In the summer the Matanuska floods not from rain water but from the returning heat and sun melting snow and glaciers! The makes the water a dark grey from all the silt and ground up rock suspended in it. It's amazing how thick it becomes. Almost slurry like, you can't see your fingers even a just a few hairs under water!
