Here we are, out walking on one of those cold and windy days after scaling
the several hundred foot drop to the Matanuska River. The river is glacier fed some thirty miles away. At this point it is
quite large, nearly a mile in diameter. Home to huge salmon runs. I was actually on a hunt to see if I could find any under
the ice. But no luck! Notice our dog Houdini isn't in the picture, I think he views ice the way we would view a fresh lava field.
