Orthodox Blessing & Altar Crosses

The blessing cross rests on the Holy Table. At the end of the Divine Liturgy the priest blesses the faithful with it and offers it to be venerated. Our blessing crosses follow the Russian tradition. Some are gold plated with a raised figure of Christ, others are decorated in bright enamel, and others are set with colored stones and small icons, many with Adam’s skull at the foot. They range from small and medium crosses to large altar crosses. There are also portable crosses for a priest’s travel kit, and a stand to hold the cross upright. You’ll also find Paschal three-candle crosses (trikirion) for the bright days of Pascha. For the cross a priest wears over his vestments, see our Pectoral Crosses.
