FAQ

What is beeswax?

Beeswax is a natural substance made from flowers by the bees themselves. They use it to make the honeycombs they store their honey in. It has been used from the dawn of time and is one of the first waxes used by man to make candles.

Why would I want to burn beeswax candles instead of paraffin?

Paraffin is made from the bleached sludge at the bottom of crude oil and is toxic. Beeswax on the other hand is all natural, beautiful, aromatic, and has been shown to:
-Burn far longer than paraffin tapers
-Clean the air of pollution
-Help with allergies and asthma
-Improve sleep
-And above all provide a sense of well being.

Do you add chemicals to your beeswax candles?

No, none of any kind whatsoever!

How do you make your beeswax candles?

Our Tapers are made by painstakingly dipping them again and again into hot molten beeswax until they reach the desired thickness and perfect shape. For a regular dinner taper this takes about 1 hour from start to finish.

What's the light white dusting on my beeswax candle?

It's called bloom and is a natural protective coating that forms on beeswax candles over time. It can be left on for an antique look, or little rubbing with a cloth will shine the candle right up!

What type of filtering do you use for your beeswax?

We use only a very light filtering just to remove the natural debris that ends up in wax ( stick, leaves and so on ). This leaves the wax full of it's natural fragrance and aroma.

How long do the Candles burn for?

The 7/8in tapers burn for about 12 hours. Far longer than any paraffin taper.
The 1/2in candles burn for about 4 hours

Do these really burn dripless?

Yes! Beeswax candles are some of the best out there! If kept out of a draft we promise these will be some of the best candles you've ever burned!

How do I know what size I need for my candle holder?

Candle holders for the typical taper used are all 7/8in. If you candle holder seems much smaller it's probably a 1/2in holder.

How do you color your beeswax?

We don't, it is naturally a beautiful golden color!

How do you scent your candles?

We don't do that either! The honey scent is all natural. Something the bees bring back from fields full of fragrant flowers.

How strong is the honey scent in the candles?

Very strong, we try to get some of the most fragrant beeswax available. It is a deep mellow honey aroma.

What kind of wick do you use for your candles?

Pure woven cotton with no synthetic yarns.

Where do you get your beeswax?

Our beeswax is mostly from the beautiful state of Washington with a little from Canada (Thanks guys!) None of our wax comes from China.
